  • Students are not allowed to use their mobile phones during class time.

• Why do you think this is an important rule?
  • There are several reasons why this rule is important. 
    • Main idea 1:  It helps to create a learning environment where students can focus on their studies 
      • Supporting idea: The use of mobile phones during class can be distracting as it diverts students' attention away from the teacher and the lesson, potentially causing them to lag behind in their studies.
      • Example: During a math class, a student's attempt to focus on the teacher's explanation is repeatedly interrupted as they continually check their phone, leading them to miss critical information and necessitating seeking assistance from a friend later on.

      • Supporting idea: 
        • Students can use their phones to look up answers to questions, or to text other students about the answers. 
        • This gives them an unfair advantage over other students who are not cheating. 
      • Example:  For instance, during a history exam, a student facing difficulty with a question regarding the causes of the Civil War can use their phone to swiftly search for the answer on Google, creating an unjust advantage over classmates who refrain from cheating.
